Hazel Johnson, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Lois D. Knutson officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and for one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Hazel C. (Rear) Johnson was born on December 29, 1905 in Big Bend twp of Chippewa Co., MN to Helmer and Emma (Larson) Rear. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. She was united in marriage to Edward Johnson on November 26, 1934. They lived in Granite Falls, MN and moved back to Montevideo shortly before his death in 1956. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past several years. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and it’s circles and the VFW Auxiliary and was fond of sewing and cooking.
She is survived by sisters - Mamie Robbins of Tomahawk, WI and Ellen Lundring of Sierra Madre, CA; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed in 1956, by brothers, Milford and Henry Rear and by sisters, Florence Skreberg and Ethel Laumb.
