Hazel (Vantassel) Kellor

January 13, 1911 — December 4, 1995

Hazel Kellor, 84, of Montevideo and formerly of St. Paul, died December 4, 1995 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 1995 at 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Alvin G. Lewis, Jr. and Rev. Timothy Lindhorst will officiate.  Burial will be Monday, December 11, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with a committal service at 2:30 P.M.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 10, in the afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family from 5-7:00 P.M. There will be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.

Hazel Louise VanTassel was born January 13, 1911 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Hudson and Sophia (Knudtson) VanTassel.  She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1929.  Hazel was united in marriage with Herbert Kellor September 7, 1935 in Minneapolis.  They lived in Minneapolis, Duluth, San Diego, and St. Paul.  Herbert was the Principal of the St. Paul TVI and she was a member of the Auxiliary in St. Paul and the Phalen Park Youth Club.  Herbert died June 5, 1985 and Hazel moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo in 1989.

She is survived by one son, Phillip Kellor and his wife Donna of St. Cloud, MN; four daughters: Betty Kellor of Los Angeles, CA, Winnie Collins and her husband Tom of Montevideo, MN, Corinne Nelson and her husband Larry of Casselton, ND, and Elayne Drake of Brookhaven, MS; six grandchildren: Thomas Mitchell "Mitch" Collins of Montevideo, MN, David Collins of Montevideo, MN, Jeff Kroeger of Plymouth, MN, Adam Kellor of St. Cloud, MN, Leslie Kellor of St. Cloud, MN, and Jackie Drake of Brookhaven, MS; and one sister, Helen and Art Hubbard of Minneapolis, MN.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herbert; one daughter, Kathleen Greening; one brother, Roy VanTassel; five sisters: Eva Dow, Blanch Helland, Dorothy Wiggins, Pearl Tanner, and Miranda Gehlken.
