She was received by Christ into His church at her baptism and renewed her faith in him at her confirmation, both being performed at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. She and Bernice also took shorter bus trips to Nashville, TN, Branson MO, The Black Hills and many 1 day trips to different attractions.
Hazel was an avid quilter. Along with the quilts she made for her families she sewed hundreds of quilt tops to be tied at Do Days at Grace Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed baking and often was told by her nieces and nephews when they visited her what their favorite cookies were.
