Helen Marie (Bakkelund) Lehmann

Helen Lehmann, of Montevideo, died on Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 94.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 24, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Joe Schularick officiating.  Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral Home.

Helen Marie (Bakkelund) Lehmann was born on August 25, 1913 in Spring Grove, MN to Gustav and Minnie (Kleven) Bakkelund.  In 1914 she moved to the Montevideo area with her family, growing up north of Montevideo.  She attended rural schools and was confirmed at Mandt/Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  Most of her lifetime was spent in the Montevideo area and has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past six years.  She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She was known for her musical talents which included playing the accordian.  She enjoyed gardening and baking, but her great passion was her children.  Her sweet smile lives on in our hearts.

She is survived by 2 children: Wayne Hein and his wife Connie of Buffalo, MN and Bonnie Hein of Montevideo; 3 grandchildren: Christine, Kelly & Kimberly; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Marjorie Keller and her husband Kenneth of Milbank, SD and Mabel Hanson of Billings, MT, as well as by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilford Hein and by a brother, Martin Bakkelund.
