Helen Molin

Helen Molin, of St. Cloud and formerly of Montevideo, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Benedict's Nursing Home in St. Cloud, MN at the age of 94. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo. Helen Marcella (Anderson) Molin was born on June 2, 1916 in St. Cloud, MN to Harold and Martha (Nilson) Anderson. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1934, where she was active in Girl's Athletic Association and several choirs. She worked at Fandel's Department Store while in school and after her graduation. On November 27, 1937 she was united in marriage to Arvid Molin at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. From 1937 until 1955 they lived in Milaca, MN, where they owned a creamery, dairy bar and hatchery. In 1955 they moved to Montevideo, where they owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and participated in women's activities and sang in the Women's Choir. She was also a Lioness. In 1997 they moved to St. Benedict Village in St. Cloud. Helen enjoyed time at the lake, gardening, sewing, fishing, dancing and especially loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Besides her hospitality, kind and gentle spirit, love for her family and love for the Lord Jesus, Helen was known to make the best brownies ever. She is survived by her husband, Arvid of St. Cloud, MN; a son, Dr. Thomas( and Kaye) Molin of Willmar, MN; three granddaughters: Kari Molin of Maple Grove, MN; Tracey(and Paul) Douglas of Prior Lake, MN and Dr. Kellie Thun of Plymouth, MN; four great grandchildren: Owen and Leah McShane and Tanner and Chase Douglas; a sister, Alice (and Ken) Norbie of St. Cloud, MN; a brother, Wally (and Marian) Anderson of White Bear Lake, MN; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson of Minneapolis, MN and nieces and nephews: Kathryn, Bob, Jeff, Doug, Mary, Gail, Gary and Greg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steve in 1976 and by a brother, Art Anderson.
