Helga Oline Hoff

Helga Hoff, of Montevideo, died on Monday, June 22, 1998 at the Chippewa Co-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 26, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Watson Lutheran Church with Rev. Harold Knutson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Helga Oline Hoff was born on December 1, 1915 in Lac Qui Parle Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota to Lauritz and Alvina (Hagen) Hoff.  She was baptized and confirmed as a Lutheran and attended the Watson School.  She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1934, attended Montevideo Teacher’s Training Class in 1935 and later graduated from St. Cloud State College.  She taught rural elementary schools in Lac Qui Parle and Chippewa Counties, taught in Montana and Washington, and later taught in Ortonville, Hutchinson and Granite Falls, MN.  She had also been employed at the Alameda Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA and the Carlson Doll Factory near Milan, MN.  She lived in the Watson, MN  area before moving to Montevideo, where she lived in Brookside Manor for a number of years and has lived in Copper Glen for the past year.  She was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church, American Diabetes Association and was a member of the American Association of Retired Teachers.

She is survived by one brother, Russell Hoff and his wife Kay of Montevideo; one nephew, Wayne Hoff and his wife Jonell of Montevideo; four nieces: Jean Quigley and her husband Phillip of Montevideo, Barbara Ward and her husband Dennis of Montevideo, Julie Salitros and her husband Christopher of Andover, MN, and Trish Hoff and her friend Jason of Melrose, MN; one great-niece, Tiera Salitros; and four great-nephews: Cayman Salitros and Dean, Bryan and Justin Quigley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Alvin Hoff, Sidney Hoff, Leslie Hoff and Olpher Hoff and his wife Gloria; and one nephew, Mark Hoff.
