Helga Mathilda (Lauritsen) Wilson

Helga Lauritsen Wilson, of Montevideo, died on Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo two days short of her 100th birthday.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with rev. Donald S. McKee officiating.  Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday.

Helga Mathilda (Lauritsen) Wilson was born on May 13, 1907 on the family farm in Sparta Township of Chippewa County, MN to Mads Peder and Elise (Jacobson) Lauritsen.  She was baptized at Saron Lutheran Church and confirmed there on January 29, 1922.  She graduated from Montevideo High School and moved to California, where she was united in marriage in 1931 to Alfred Lester Wilson.  On October 28, 1940 they had a son, Henry Wayne, who died at the age of 5 months. She lived in the greater Los Angeles area, including the cities of Venice, Culver City, California City and Santa Monica.  She worked for a time at Douglas Aircraft for Howard Hughs.  Following her husband’s death in 1990 she moved to Montevideo, and was currently a resident at the Luther Haven Nursing Home. She enjoyed doing word puzzles, playing solitaire and gardening.

She is survived by a sister, Emelia Mossman of Montevideo; two sisters-in-law: Miranda Lauritsen and Molly Lauritsen, both of Montevideo; a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred;  her son Henry, six brothers: Paul, Fred, Victor, Richard, Louie and Willie Lauritsen; and by a sister, Anina Milbeck.
