Helmer Marvin Gulden

Helmer Gulden died Friday, August 30, 2002 at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London, MN at the age of 78.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo, MN.  Rev. David Dauk will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M.

Helmer Marvin Gulden was born November 26, 1923 at Montevideo, MN the son of Hjalmer and Minnie (Storbo) Gulden.  He was fond of music his entire life and played the violin during high school and even went to a state competition.  He also enjoyed playing the harmonica.  Helmer graduated from Montevideo High School in 1943 and remained home on the farm and also worked numerous handyman jobs in town.  In 1961 he moved to the Twin Cities and worked for the Hopkins Car Wash.  He moved to Wahpeton, ND in 1967 to work as a delivery truck driver for Gulden Transfer.  During this time he lived with his brother, Orville, and was an active participant in his extended family.  In 1974, he returned to Montevideo to farm with his parents.  He moved into Montevideo in the fall of 1975 with his aging parents.  Helmer greatly enjoyed good home-grown, home cooked food, gardening, and the love of little children.  He did travel much of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico with his brother, Orville.

He is survived by two brothers: Orville Gulden and his wife Carol of New London, MN and Harold Gulden and his wife Louise of Middleberg, FL and nieces and nephews: Larry, Dennis, Charles, Debra, Kevin, Kari, Diane, Scott, Robert, Roberta, Mark, and Kathy.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Helmer was a good guy and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
