Henry A. Christenson, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, September 15, 2001 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at 1:30 PM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Henry Alvin Christenson was born on May 27, 1915 in Chippewa Co., MN to Elmer and E. Agnes (Bye) Christenson. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He farmed for numerous years and worked for Mooney Construction Co. for 29 years before retiring in 1974. He did carpenter work, including building his own home. He loved being a handyman, gardening, baseball and listening to old time music. He was a lifelong member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a brother, Alfred Christenson and his wife Harriet of Kerkhoven, MN; six sisters, Ethel Johnson of Montevideo; Laura McDonald of Laguna Hills, CA; Violette Seiler and her husband Glen of Clara City, MN; Doris Regan and her husband Bill of Van Nuys, CA; Virginia Keller of Northridge, CA and Vivian Schwagerl and her husband Jim of Simi Valley, CA; a brother-in-law, Robert Bergo of Montevideo; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Erna Bergo and Betty Lou Christenson in infancy, and brothers-in-law, Darrell Johnson, Frank McDonald and Herbert Keller.
