Henry A. Frerichs, of Maynard, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN at the age of 74.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at the Maynard Lutheran Church in Maynard with Rev. Mary Hovland officiating. Interment will be in the Greenleaf Cemetery near Litchfield, MN.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Henry Andreas Frerichs was born on May 12, 1929 in Clara City, MN to Rikus and Ayeltdine (Reiter) Frerichs. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and attended Clara City Schools. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and received a Purple Heart. In February, 1954 he was united in marriage to Roselie Olson at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Montevideo. They made their home in the Maynard, MN area until her death on March 6, 1961. On October 14, 1961 he was united in marriage to Eldred (Grant) Moe at Osakis Lutheran Church in Osakis, MN. They lived in the Maynard area during their married life. He worked for 25 years as a custodian and bus driver for the Maynard Public Schools before retiring. He was a member of Maynard Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #252 in Maynard, VFW Post #380 in Montevideo and was a volunteer for Prairie 5 delivering Meals on Wheels in Maynard and Clara City. They also served as campground hosts for 10 years at Crow Wing State park near Brainerd, MN and Glacial Lakes State Park near Starbuck, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Eldred; three children: Jacquelyn Weaver and her husband Christopher of Bartlett, TN; Ellyne Soley and her husband Bill of Two Harbors, MN; and Randall Moe of Mankato, MN; seven grandchildren: Nathan, William and Emily Soley; and Jocelyn, Cassandra, Christina and Joshua Weaver; a great grandchild, Caid Brahm; a brother, Menno Frerichs and his wife Margene of Maynard, MN; two sisters: Alice Gronewold of Montevideo and Sylvia Cronen of Benson, MN; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Roselie, in 1961; one son, Garth Frerichs; two brothers: Harm Frerichs and one in infancy; and one sister, Annie Frerichs in childhood.
