Herbert Palmer Nordaune

Montevideo

Herbert Nordaune, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Charlie Bunk and Rev. Richard Mork officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6 - 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Herbert Palmer Nordaune was born on December 8, 1917 in Baxter Township of Lac qui Parle County, MN to Jens and Christine (Moseng) Nordaune, the youngest of twelve children.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter.  He attended rural schools at District #5 and graduated from Dawson High School.  On March 3, 1944, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Risdahl at the Lutheran Parsonage in Canby, MN.  They resided at their farm home in Baxter Township until moving into Montevideo in 1992.  Herb was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.  He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, was active in its activities and served several terms on the church council.  Herb also served on the school board for District #5 and on the Baxter Town Board for several years.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, watching sporting events and being involved in the lives of his grandchildren.

He is survived by three daughters: Corinne Anderson and her husband Dennis of Bloomington, MN; Lennice Keefe and her husband Tom of Waconia, MN; and Roselyn Nordaune of Plymouth, MN; five grandchildren: Pamela Olson and her husband Brian; Darren Anderson and his wife Jennifer; and Timothy, Ted and John Keefe; two great-grandchildren: Zachary and Kaylee Olson; a brother-in-law, Melvin Hofland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle in 1996; a granddaughter, Jodi Anderson Kruger and her husband Phil; and seven sisters and four brothers.
