Herman J. Meyer, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, September 5, 1999 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 8, 1999 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Herman John Meyer was born on March 25, 1908 in Clara City, MN to John and Ann Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed in Clara City, MN and attended rural schools. On December 31, 1940 he was united in marriage to Maria Wibben in Titonka, IA. They lived in Clara City, MN until moving to Montevideo and beginning Meyer Implement in 1943. He ran the business selling John Deere implements until selling the business and retiring in 1976. He has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past year. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Meyer of Montevideo; one son, Norman Meyer and his wife Karen of Montevideo; two grandchildren: Shelley Dobrotka and her husband David of Boerne, TX and Corey Meyer and his wife Jennifer of Elk River, MN; one great-granddaughter, Madalyn Meyer of Elk River, MN; one brother, John Meyer, Jr. of Clara City, MN; two sisters: Annie Gerdes and Treintje Zimmer of Clara City, MN as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maria in 1991 and by one brother and one sister.
