Herman Moseng

Herman Moseng, formerly of rural Appleton, died on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Trevor Bailey officiating.  Interment will be in the Kviteseid Lutheran Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5:30 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Herman Moseng was born on November 27, 1917 in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., MN to Jens E. and Julia (Anderson) Moseng.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and attended rural schools in Baxter Township.   On February 3, 1945 he was united in marriage to Alma Leone Oberg in St. Paul, MN.  They lived and farmed near Madison, Dawson, Watson, Milan and Appleton, MN.  He was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan and enjoyed driving his car, hunting, planting flowers and trees, his cats and dog, gardening and had a great love for farming.  He has been a resident at the Luther haven Nursing Home for the past 6 weeks.

He is survived by 4 children: Marlys Lien and her husband Roger of Dawson, MN; Herman Moseng, Jr. and his wife Pat of Elk River, MN; Donald Moseng and his wife Annie of Goose Creek, SC and Marcia Buseman and her husband Robert of Montevideo; 8 grandchildren: Pamela (Chuck) Jerve; Troy (Julie) Moseng; Kim (Chris) Riley; Reid (Kristie) Moseng; Elton Moseng; Tanya (Les) McKellar; and Melissa and Vicki Buseman; 11 great grandchildren: Braydon, Kendrick and Kayleigh Jerve; Brittany and Tyler Moseng; Mackenzie and Alexander Riley; Davis Moseng; Ashley and Ariel Moseng; and Lexy McKellar; a brother, Daniel Moseng and his wife Betty of Maplewood, MN; a sister, Rita Simons of Oakdale, MN as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leone in 1997;by 7 brothers: Edwin, Selmer, Arthur, James, Ervin, Morris and Oliver Moseng and by a sister, Genora Kemp.
