Hilda Gladys (Larson) Thompson

Hilda Gladys Thompson died on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Appleton Municipal Nursing Home at the age of 95.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 19, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. David DeMars officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening, with the family from 3 - 5 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Hilda Gladys (Larson) Thompson was born on September 29, 1908 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to Lewis and Gina (Halvorson) Larson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Milan High School in 1926 and attended Normal School in Moorhead, MN.  She taught school in several rural school districts.  On September 14, 1930 she was united in marriage to Thorfin Thompson on her family farm.  They lived in Milan and Big Bend before moving to a farm in Big Bend Township.  She lived there until moving into Milan in 1992.  She moved to Pleasant View in Appleton in August of 2002.  She was a lifelong member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and active in it’s activities as well as a member of homemakers.  She enjoyed cooking and especially her family.

She is survived by two sons: Dallas Thompson and his wife Mary of Glenwood, MN and Bruce Thompson of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren: Kristin Deanna Bedi and her husband Jasi, Laurie Thompson, Erik Thompson and his wife Lisa, Kirsti Thompson and Petra Thompson; a great grandson, Jacob Thorfin Thompson; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thorfin in 1996; three sisters: Olga Paulson, Mabel Underthun and Lila Barduson; and three brothers: William, Roy and Bennie Larson.
