Hilma Christenson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday June 18, 1996 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 98.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday June 23, 1996 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jevnaker Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Hilma Josephine (Holtan) Christenson was born on September 29, 1897 in Dodge County, near Hayfield, MN the daughter of Ole and Sophia (Moe) Holtan. She was raised in rural Hayfield and attend rural school. Hilma was united in marriage with John Christenson on September 3, 1919 at her home in Hayfield, MN. They farmed in the Hayfield and Montevideo areas. She was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and of the Ladies Aid. Hilma had been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past two years.
She is survived by two daughters: Lorene Bouska of Montevideo and Ardella and her husband Morris Boysen of Austin, MN; by four sons: Robert and his wife JoAnn of Montevideo, Larry and his wife Barb of Raymond, MN, Vernon of Mankato, MN and Marvin of Montevideo; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Adeline Christenson of Montevideo and Carol Christenson of Raymond, MN; one brother Oscar Holtan and his wife Hertha of Hayfield, MN; and on sister-in-law, Joyce Holtan of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John in 1959; three sons: Archie, Walter and Orville; one son-in-law, Robert Bouska; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Christenson; one grandson; one great-grandson; three brothers: Howard Holtan, Edmund Holtan, and Gerald Holtan; and one sister, Mabel Giere.
