Howard Edwin Ervin

Howard Ervin, of Maynard, died on Monday September 10, 2007 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 81.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Maynard Lutheran Church in Maynard with Rev. Mary Hovland officiating.  Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens of Montevideo.  Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, with the family being present from 5:30 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Howard Edward Ervin was born on July 21, 1926 in Leenthrop Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Clifford and Alicia (Stark) Ervin.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and he attended rural schools.  On April 6, 1946, he was united in marriage with Shirley Johnson at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  They lived in Big Bend Township until 1959 when they moved to Leenthrop Township and then into Maynard in 1974. When he retired from farming, he continued his passion for working.  He worked with his son Brent for the next 18 years and was in his element.  He loved everyday and came home and shared his workday with his wife.  He was a member of Maynard Lutheran Church.  Howard touched everyone he met with his humor and gentleness.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; six children: Barbara Ervin of Maple Grove, MN, Bonita (and Ron) Alstad of Buffalo, MN, Barry (and Michelle) Ervin of Chanhassen, MN, Bradley (and Kathy) Ervin of Eden Prairie, MN, Beth (and Gordy) Fawcett of Carlsbad, CA, and Brent (and Cathy) Ervin of Maynard, MN; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters: Shirley Angrimson of Montevideo, MN, Jean Lundy of Watertown, SD, Mary Jane (and Ray) Marholz of Montevideo, MN, Vera (and Bob) Farrell of Mountville, PA and Janice (and Frances) Lund of Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two grandsons: Corey Ervin and Gordie Fawcett III; and two brothers-in-law: Curtis Angrimson and Gene Lundy.
