Inez Lillian (Femrite) Strom was born August 11, 1910, to John and Mary (Olson) Femrite in Riverside Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Inez graduated from Dawson High School and attended Madison Normal School. She taught country school until her marriage to Raymond A. Strom on June 11, 1938, at her parents' rural home. To this union, three children were born: Ardelle, Roger, and Phyllis.
As a child, Inez liked to play waitress. She loved to wait on and serve people. This love carried on to her adult life, where her days were filled with taking care of her family and volunteering as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Inez was also active in WELCA and women's circle groups, serving as a Bible Study leader, helping at church suppers and other activities.
Although Inez did not continue teaching after her marriage, she used her skills to help and encourage her children. She was always ready to help with school work and special projects. In all her children's activities, she was there for support.
Her support continued through the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From concerts to sports, Inez and Ray could be seen walking hand-in-hand to come and show their support. During quiet times, she relaxed with her embroidery, quilting, and doing the daily crossword puzzles.
Her home was a place where you always felt welcome. The coffee would be quickly brewed and the home-made treats placed on the table. She loved and was loved by family and friends.
Inez died suddenly on Friday, October 30, 1998, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 88 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
She is survived by her husband Ray; children: Ardelle Adamson of Holmen, WI, Roger Strom and his wife, Karen, of rural Dawson, and Phyllis Nelson and her husband, John, of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren: Tim (Cindy) Adamson, Cordell (Marlene) Adamson, Hollie (Jerry) Thompson, Jon Strom, Lisa Strom, Evan Nelson, Mary Nelson, and Emily Nelson; 5 great-grandchildren: Jayd Adamson, Amy Kendhammer, and Jeremy Kendhammer, and Brock and Kohl Adamson; 3 brothers: Alfred (Mabel) Femrite, George Femrite, Sr., and Lester (Florence) Femrite, all of Dawson; sisters: Mabel Femrite of the Johnson Memorial Home and Alice Svendsen of Dawson; sister-in-law, Selma Femrite of Dawson; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
