Iona Gordon, of Montevideo, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 100. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Chris Lieske officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Iona (Baseman) Gordon was born July 16, 1913 in Montevideo, MN to William and Loritta (Harding) Baseman. She attended school and grew into a young lady in Montevideo. On July 9, 1931, Iona was united in marriage to Bayard Gordon in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in Montevideo. Iona worked at MTI , was a quick learner and was very good at the tasks assigned to her. She was very gifted and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, fishing, and playing cards. She also loved watching her Minnesota Twins play baseball.
She is survived by her children, William (Pat) Gordon of Montevideo, MN and Nancy (Edward) Bakker of Bloomington, MN; 11 Grandchildren; 23 Great-grandchildren; many Great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews; and many loving friends and neighbors.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Bayard in 1996; a son, Bayard Gordon Jr.; a daughter, LaDonna (and Robert) Eliason; two brothers: Frank and Raymond Baseman; one sister, Dorothy (Baseman) Dirks; and numerous nephews.
