Ione Bacon, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 90. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregation Church in Montevideo with Rev. Richard Fyyling officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Ione Margaret (Benham) Bacon was born on December 1, 1917 in Marmarth, ND to Don and Louise (Lee) Benham. They moved to Montevideo and later to farms in Chippewa and Swift Counties, where she attended rural schools and Milan High School. In 1937, she was united in marriage to Arthur Bacon in Montevideo. She was a long-time active member of First Congregational Church in Montevideo. She enjoyed history, fishing, playing cards, keeping up with the family's finances and business and had a good sense of humor. She is survived by a sister, Lucille Sundahl of Grove City, MN; a special honorary "grandson", Mark Van Nurden of Montevideo; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Benham of Minnetonka, MN; nieces: Diane (and Marty) Malmin of Watertown, MN, Joan (and Gene Steinly of Rapid City, SD, Correen (and Bill) McNab of Hereford, AZ and Sue Bacon of Glencoe, MN; grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur in 1984; a young son, Richard in 1949; brothers: Eddie and Earl Benham; sisters-in-law, Cora Benham and Rachel Bacon; a brother-in-law, Guy Bacon; and a nephew, Russell Bacon.
