Irene Vivian Irons was born July 17, 1918, at Rugby, North Dakota, the daughter of Thomas Perry Irons and Della Mae (Britsch) Irons.  Her childhood years were spent in Rugby, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school.
She married William DuShane on May 29, 1945, in Rugby.  The couple lived in Rugby, Minot, and Grand Forks in North Dakota, and later moved to northern Minnesota.  While living in Minot, Irene worked for the Red Owl Store.
About 1973, the couple moved to Dawson, MN, where William died in June, 1979.  Following her husband's death, Irene lived at the Parkview Apartments.  She became a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home on December 24, 1990, and remained there until her death.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Lois Fossum, Dean Fossum, and Roger Fossum, all of Fargo, ND, and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; brother, Clarence F. Irons; and sister, Ethel (Mrs. Arthur) Fossum.
Irene loved animals and farm life.  She was an avid reader, visiting the local library weekly before her illness and confinement to the nursing home.  She was a dear friend to those who knew her well, and will be sorely missed.
