Irene Holen, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 63. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Willie Rosin officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 5:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Irene Marie (Mulenburg) Holen was born January 26, 1948 at Granite Falls, MN the daughter of Robert and Delilah (Lanning) Mulenburg. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1966. Irene was a stay at home mom where she also did daycare and worked at Carl's Bakery. She moved to Montevideo in 1987 and was united in marriage with Terry Holen on June 27, 1987 at Watson Lutheran Church. She was a seamstress and she operated Irene's Creations and later made Memory Bears. Irene enjoyed gardening, flowers and helping others. She also was the cook for deer camp. She is survived by her husband, Terry; five children: Jeff (Penni Hanson of Marshall, MN) Lalim of Granite Falls, MN, Darcy (Chris Lamfers) Lasley of Currie, MN, John (Mona Preteau) Lalim of Roseau, MN, Dawn (Richard) Androli of Janesville, MN, and Jody (Elliot) Hilden of Montevideo, MN; fifteen grandchildren: one great-granddaughter; four brothers: Robert (Clio) Mulenburg of Baxter, MN, Douglas (Cindy) Mulenburg of Darwin, MN, Wayne (Sharon) Mulenburg of Mankato, MN and Mike Mulenburg of Mankato, MN; one brother-in-law, Robert Holen of Montevideo, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister-in-law, Julie Mulenburg; and one niece, Tabitha Mulenburg.
