Irene Jensen, formerly of Montevideo, died on Sunday, June 6, 1999 in St. Paul, MN at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at 10:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Irene Clara (Warnke) Jensen was born on March 25, 1911 in Wood Lake, MN to Gustave and Minnie (Heinz) Warnke. She was baptized and confirmed in Wood Lake and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1929. On May 30, 1936 she was united in marriage to Vernon Jensen in Montevideo. They lived in Milwaukee, WI for about 6 years, returned to Montevideo and lived there for over 30 years before moving to St. Paul, MN in 1976. She had been a resident of the Shalom East Home in St. Paul for the past 5 weeks. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran and it’s women’s groups for many years, was a Lioness, for several years was a member of the Chippewa County Welfare Board and was a member of the Montevideo Country Club.
She is survived by two daughters: Pat Mjos and her husband David of Colorado Springs, CO and Becky Silva and her husband Donald of Selma, CA; five grandchildren: David and Mark Engelke and Chad, Nate and Corey Mjos; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Vernon Jensen in 1982; as well as by five brothers and four sisters.
