Irene Ost, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at her home at the age of 89.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Irene Alvina (Wick) Ost was born on May 1, 1913 in Chippewa Co., MN to Albert and Ingeborg (Anderson) Wick. She was baptized at Brono Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School. On June 12, 1937 she was united in marriage to Alvin Ost at the Our Saviors Lutheran Parsonage. They farmed in Sparta Township on a farm near Montevideo. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School, and was a member of Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild. She served on the Brono Lutheran Cemetery Board for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening, going to the lake and camping, and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Wayne of Montevideo; a sister, Pearl Larson and her husband Merlin of Jasper, MN as well as by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin in 1996, brothers Oliver and Henry Wick and by sisters, Florence Bourne and Myrtle Harding.
