Irene Sanford of Montevideo died Friday, July 31, 2015 at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 90.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Christopher Lieske will officiate and burial will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held on Monday, from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.  There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services.

Irene Augusta (Wilking) Sanford was born May 11, 1925 at Canby, MN the daughter of Gerhardt and Annie (Winters) Wilking.  She was baptized and confirmed at Canby.  Irene was united in marriage with Leslie C. Coy March 11, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  She worked as a line supervisor for 28 years at SLMTI.  Leslie died in May of 1980 and she was united in marriage with Warren Sanford December 22, 1985 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Warren died in February of 1995.  She was an avid quilter, seamstress, loved gardening and traveling.  Irene was active in church circle and Bible study.  She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Flying Geese Quilt Club.

She is survived by her children: Florence (Harold) Schulz of Woodlake, MN , Lois (Ron) Gustafson of Montevideo, MN, Carolyn (Will) Endsley of Maple Plain, MN, Barbara (Roger) Will of Bismark, ND, and Rita Pavey of Mahtomedi, MN; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence “Buddy” Wilking of St. Cloud, MN; Ruthie Meisner of Montevideo, MN, Lucille Nygaard of Canby, MN, and Dorothy Eggers of Montevideo, MN.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands: Leslie and Warren; a sister, Alice (Everett) Bresson; and three brothers-in-law: Harold Meisner, Clarence Nygaard, and Leon Eggers.
