Irene Sulflow, of the Clara City Care Center and formerly of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 85.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, November 25, 2000 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City with Rev. Kelli Fisher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Irene Minnie Olga (Steinert) Sulflow was born on July 28, 1915 in rural Long Prairie, MN to John and Anna (Zielsdorf) Steinert. She was baptized , confirmed and attended rural schools near Long Prairie. On March 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Walter Sulflow of Montevideo at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. They farmed in Havelock Township of Chippewa County, MN before retiring and moving into Montevideo in 1981. She moved to the Clara City Care Center in September of 1996. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in it's Ladies Aid.
She is survived by three daughters: Marie Hubert and her husband Eddie of Sacred Heart, MN, DeLores Theget and her husband Cliff of Willmar, MN, and Joan Christenson and her husband Jerry of Montevideo; one son, Dennis Sulflow and his wife Rose of Maynard, MN; four grandchildren: Alan Hubert of Willmar, MN, Diane Meyer and her husband Tim of Chaska, MN, Kari Wahlstrom and her husband Adrian of St. Cloud, MN, and Lori Christenson of Sioux Falls, SD and her fiance Jesse Gladis; four great-grandchildren: Kyle, Ryan and Dylan Meyer and Adrian Wahlstrom II; two sisters: Blondina Drevlow of Frazee, MN and Rose Brastad of Long Prairie, MN; one brother, Clarence Steinert of Staples, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter in 1989; a five year old daughter, Shirley in 1952; and by ten brothers and sisters.
