Irving N. Nyberg

April 28, 1932 — December 7, 2000

Irving N. Nyberg was born on Thursday, April 28, 1932, to Harold N. and Borghild (Neraasen) Nyberg in Ten Mile Lake Twp., rural Boyd, MN.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson and attended the High School in Madison.
Irving was united in marriage to Elaine Greseth on August 14, 1952, at the Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson.  He was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK, where their daughter, Delaine was born.  After being honorably discharged, he worked at Ewing Amoco in Madison for 27 months.  They moved to Minneapolis in 1955, where he owned and operated Plaza Cleaners & Launderers in Fridley, New Brighton, Circle Pines, and Maple Grove.  Their son, Douglas was born in 1961.
Irv became a Shriner, and was a former member of the Zurah Temple Horse Patrol Unit and was a current member of the Osman Shrine Temple Caballeros Horse Patrol Unit, where he traveled to many parades and functions.  For over 30 years, he was a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights, where he served as head usher and was a member of their bowling team.
Irv's first love was his family and 4 wonderful grandchildren: Nick, Ben, Danielle, and Ryan.  His dream was to retire in Dawson where he could do a little farming and keep his horses.
Irv died on Thursday morning, December 7, 2000, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, at the age of 68.
Irv is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Delaine (Randy) Tuomi of New Brighton and Doug (Beth) Nyberg of Rogers; 4 grandchildren, Nickoli, Benjamin, and Danielle Tuomi and Ryan Nyberg; mother, Borghild Nyberg of the Madison Lutheran Home; sister, Agnes Erickson of Dawson; brother, Herman (Lois) Nyberg of Madison; brother-in-law, Glenn Dunham of Dawson; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; sisters, Verna Nyberg and Sylvia Dunham; niece, Barbara Nyberg and nephew, Steven Erickson; mother and father-in-law, Olga and Elmer Greseth; and brother-in-law, Eugene Greseth.
