James Ehlenz

James Ehlenz, formerly of Madison, Minnesota died on April 15, 2025 at Fairway View Assisted Living in Ortonville, MN at the age of 83.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Madison.

Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

James Francis Ehlenz was born on March 24, 1942, in Madison, Minnesota, to Manfred and Frances (Maher) Ehlenz. He grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. After high school, he entered the United States Navy, where he served for four years. James returned to Madison following discharge from the Navy and then moved to Dawson. He worked as a truck driver for various companies, including Arlin Curtis Trucking and Anderson Trucking, before becoming self-employed. James enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching sports - especially on TV. He followed many different teams throughout the Midwest, as well as several college sports programs. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James is survived by his son, Tony (Stephanie) Ehlenz, Wheaton, MN; grandchildren: James Ehlenz, Adam Grimmer, Devin (Brittney Backer) Ehlenz, Amanda Grau, Andrea Grau, Kirsten (Nathan) Gunnink, Ethan (Aerial Hagen) Ehlenz; great-grandchildren: Briley, Paislea, Kinslee Sattler, Nathan Ehlenz; siblings: Kay (Don) James, Watertown, MN, Sue Ehlenz, Madison, MN, Bob (Lolly) Ehlenz, Richmond, MN; step-daughter: Melissa Wheeler; step-grandchildren: Tasia Ehlenz, Dustin Miller, Cody Miller, Keegan Wheeler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wives: Linda and Neila; sons, Tim Ehlenz and Peter Ehlenz; step-son, Kevin; sister: Pat (Bob) Javens; niece, Colby Ehlenz, and nephew, Troy Javens.
