James Jaspersen, of Montevideo, died Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 79. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kathy Skoglund officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. James Christian Jaspersen was born on October 1, 1930 at Tyler, MN, the son of Jens and Elise (Kristensen) Jaspersen. He was baptized at Danebod Lutheran Church, confirmed at 1st English Lutheran Church and graduated from Tyler High School in 1948. Jim was united in marriage February 3, 1951 with Dolores Kock at Lake Benton, MN. He served in the US Army from1952-1954. They lived at Tyler, MN until 1966, when they moved to Montevideo where he owned and operated Monte Block and Tile Company. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served as a trustee. Jim enjoyed watching Thunderhawk football and basketball, playing golf at the Crossing, and coffee in the morning at County Market. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; three sons: Craig (and Lisa) Jaspersen of Pipestone, MN, Mark (and Kerry) Jaspersen of Montevideo, MN and Scott Jaspersen of Montevideo, MN; three grandchildren: Kady, Nolan, and Isaac; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Preceding him in death were his parents; nine brothers: Viggo, Albert, Christian, Albert Christian, Arnold, Carl, Earl, Robert, and Roy; and three sisters: Louise, Marie, and Juanita.
