James Kleven, of Milan, died on Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Rapid City, SD at the age of 65. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. James Hjalmer Kleven was born on January 31, 1945 in Montevideo, MN to Hjalmer and Ruth (Olson) Kleven. He was baptized and confirmed at the Milan Methodist Church and graduated from Milan High School in 1963. On May 9, 1964 he was united in marriage to Judy Thompson at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. He farmed for many years in Kragero Township. He was a long-time member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church, where he had been a Trustee, Congregational President and served on the cemetery board. He was a long-time member and secretary of the Chord-Ayres; belonged to the Milan Rod & Gun Club and was on the board of the Milan Elevator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting and school activities. He is survived by his wife, Judy; four children: Brian (and Margo) Kleven of Osseo, MN, Matthew (and Christine) Kleven of Milan, Lisa DuFrane of Milan and Melissa (and Dan) Struxness of Milan; twelve grandchildren; two brothers: George (and Janet) Kleven of Milan and Don (and Deb) Kleven of Fergus Falls, MN; a sister, Audrey (and Jim) Loehr of Willmar, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son-in-law, Chris DuFrane. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
