James Lageson

James Lageson. of Montevieo, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 in Boynton Beach, FL at the age of 82. Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo. Interment will be in Sunset memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday prior to services beginning at 5:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. James Edwin Lageson was born in Montevideo, MN on March 27, 1929 to Edwin and Verna (Hein) Lageson. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1947. Following his graduation he worked at various jobs including driving a school bus for Simon Olson and driving trucks delivering eggs. He began a career working with Northern States Power Company in Montevideo starting in March of 1950. On September 8, 1950 he was united in marriage to Adelaine Kalmoe in Montevideo. The Korean war was being fought at that time and he was in the National Guard. The Minnesota unit (47th) division was called up to report in January 1951 to Camp Rucker, Alabama for training. He found an apartment in Geneva, Alabama that they shared with another couple before being notified in August to report to California and was shipped out to Korea. He fought with an artillery unit until August of the next year. After being discharged from the Army, he returned to his job at Northern States Power Company, where he worked for many years before retiring as Credit Manager on September 30, 1984. He kept busy with his other part time jobs of operating the Montevideo Roller Rink and had a vending machine business. They moved to Florida where they purchased a condo in Boynton Beach. While in Montevideo he was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He was a long-time member of the Lions Club, was a Zuhrah Shriner and also sang in the Music Makers Quartet for many years. In 1959, they built a small cottage on Norway Lake near Spicer, Minnesota, where many good times were shared with family and friends. Upon retirement in Florida, he became very interested in photography, taking classes at the local college. This soon became a passion. One of his favorite pastimes was taking scenery pictures and throughout the years produced many beautiful pictures he loved to share with his family and friends. Along with his wife Adelaine, he loved traveling. They had a camper for many years, using it to travel around the states and three times to Alaska. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing stories from the past and turning the short ones into long ones. He is survived by his wife Adelaine, a son Steven Lageson and his wife Carol of Boynton Beach, Florida, a daughter Cheryl Anderson and her husband Mark of Lakeville, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Christi with husband Erick Garcia of Lake Worth , Florida; Jamie with husband Kriss Rubenstein of Lake Worth, Florida; Bonnie Denham with Stephen Marshall of Lake Worth, Florida; Kari Anderson with J.T. Kenngott of Savage, Minnesota; and Eric and wife Heather Anderson of Bloomington, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren: Hailey, Alec and Rylee; a sister Mavis Hollenbeck of Mankato, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
