James Sandberg

Jim Sandberg died Friday, April 25, 2025 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 83.

James Alvin Sandberg was born February 19, 1942 in Granite Falls, MN the son of Elmer and Gladys (Lorntson) Sandberg. He went to country school in Asbury and graduated from Granite Falls High School. Jim was a farmer with a strong work ethic. He was united in marriage with Delores Christians February 18, 1967 at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He enjoyed collecting farm toys, telling stories, and listening to polka and country music.

He is survived by three children: Dean Sandberg of Willmar, Pamela Monio of Apple Valley, and Julie Torkelson of Willmar; one grandchild; a brother, Keith Sandberg of Granite Falls; four sisters: Bernie Corsten of Wausau, WI, Clara Overby of Mason City, IA, Shirley Brown of Lakeville, and Joyce Harper; and extended family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Delores; a brother, Alden Sandberg; two sisters: Dorothy (Wayne) Halsne and Mavis (Marv) Mattila; and a brother-in-law, Sonny Brown.
