Jane Olson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at her home at the age of 87. Memorial services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Robb Kemppainen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 - 7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:45 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Jane Evelyn Olson was born on December 7, 1922 in Madison, MN to Joseph and Lillian (Dahl) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Borgund Lutheran Church, attended rural schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1940. She attended Madison Teachers Training and St. Cloud Teacher's College before moving to Los Angeles to work at Lockheed Aircraft during World war II. On May 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to Dean W. Olson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson, MN. They lived and farmed in Camp Release Township until retiring in 1992 and moving into Montevideo in 1999. She worked at Control Data and the DAC and liked to do volunteer work. She was a long-time member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter, where she was active in WELCA, was a Sunday School teacher, participated in Bible Study and visited with shut-ins. She enjoyed antiquing, Twins baseball, quilting, handwork, traveling, cooking and often baking breads, muffins or cookies - especially her chocolate chip cookies to share with shut-in's, neighbors and friends. She loved to garden, especially raising vegetables. She is survived by three children: Dr. Dan (and Carol) Olson of Warren, OH; Paul (and Dr. Kathy) Olson of Dawson, MN and Karen J. Olson of Roseville, MN; a granddaughter, Froya Olson of Dawson, MN; a sister, Phyllis Taylor of Plano, TX as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dean in 2008, a brother, Phillip Olson and a sister, Marjorie Shuman.
