Jeanette Larson, of Montevideo, died on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 85.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Watson, MN. Rev. Marie Eckberg will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service.
Jeanette Ellen (Borns) Larson was born May 10, 1930 to James and Esther (Zucal) Borns. She graduated from River High School in 1941 and then she went to Ann Arbor Michigan where she worked at the University of Michigan Hospital as a CNA. Jeanette worked at the University Hospital for 10 years. She returned to Iron River, MI for several years and then moved to Minneapolis, MN. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Larson on August 2, 1963 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, MN. After retiring in 1980, they moved back to a farm in Chippewa County before moving into Montevideo in the fall of 2000. Lawrence died May 24, 2001. She later moved to Brookside Manor and then to Luther Haven Nursing Home. While living on the farm she was active at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and its women’s groups. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards, gardening, reading books, and listening to the MN Twins.
She is survived by seven step-children: LaVerne Larson of Kellogg, MN, Wallace (Audrey) Larson of Mound, MN, Allan (Marge) Larson of Mound, MN, Ardelle (Helge) Lamo of Minneapolis, MN, Arlyce Mahlberg of Barnum, MN, Danny (Lorraine) Larson of Watson, MN, and Leon (Patsy) Larson of Oshkosh, WI; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one step daughter-in-law, Pat Larson of Coon Rapids, MN; her siblings, Clarence (Mary Lou) Borns of Orlando, FL, Clifford (Betty) Borns of Spokane WA, and Amy (Borns) Beyers of Salem, OR; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lawrence in 2001; one son in infancy; three step-sons: Delane, Gary and Dean Larson; one step-daughter, Arlene (Albert) Kashmark; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a step daughter-in-law, Connie Larson; a step son-in-law, Arthur Mahlberg; a brother Leonard “Smoky” Borns; a sister, Norma Flinders; and brother-in-law, Thomas Beyers.
