Jeanette Louise Sandven was born on April 27, 1931 in Benson Township, Swift County to Alfred and Esther (Nelson) Olen.  She was baptized at Lake Hazel Lutheran Church, rural Benson and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson.  She attended  and graduated from Benson High School in 1949.  She married Mervin Sandven at Lake Hazel Lutheran Church on June 3, 1956.  The family made their home on the farm north of Montevideo.  They had four children: Richard, Terry, Steve and Diane.  Jeanette continued to live at the farm until the time of her death.
Faith and family were Jeanette’s priorities.  She was a quiet leader who demonstrated her faith by her actions. Jeanette was active in Big Bend Lutheran Church.  She worked at Swift County Bank in Benson for a number of years and then at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.  She enjoyed baking and gardening.  Some of her favorite things to bake were apple bars, “grammy rolls," and chocolate chip cookies.  Mostly, she loved spending time with family.
Jeanette is survived by her children: Richard Sandven, rural Milan, Terry (Kathy) Sandven, Edina, Steve (Vickie) Sandven, Redwood Falls, and Diane (E. Matt Swecker) Sandven, Fargo; grandchildren: George Sandven, Eddie Sandven, Charlie Sandven, Blake (Rachael) Sandven, Ross Sandven, Kyle (Christie) Larson, Ian Larson, Brenna (Bobby) Elwell, Dane Swecker, and Austin Swecker; great-grandchildren: Beckston Sandven and Hendrix Sandven as well as extended family and friends.
