Jeffrey Keith Moe, of Dawson, passed away at home with his wife and daughter by his side on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, at 1:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rev. Kendall Stelter will serve as officiant.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Jeff was born on January 6, 1955, in Bloomington, MN, the son of Allen and Virginia (Fagerlie) Moe. At the age of 3, Jeff moved to Indiana with his family; he often talked about fond memories of his childhood there with his brother and sister and playing Little League Baseball. At the age of 13, Jeff and his family moved back to his father’s hometown of Dawson. Jeff graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School in 1973, where he excelled in sports. He participated in track, football, and basketball, being named to the WCCO All-State Team of the Week. His classmates remember Jeff as a kind, humble man.

On August 12, 1995, he married Debbie (Collins) Moe. On July 2, 1997, the little love of his life, Willa, was born. He was an amazing dad, often taking her from the crib after a long day on the road just so he could hold and rock her awhile. Jeff was an incredibly hard-working man, driving semi for over 40 years, most recently with Wayne Transports. Like his Grandpa Ed before him, Jeff loved to be on the open road.

Jeff was a lover of family, friends, kids, animals, peanut butter (Jif only), and ice cream, often indulging himself on a daily basis. He was an avid sports fan: high school, college, and professional. If paint drying was considered a sport, he would have watched it. Jeff enjoyed meeting people and learning about their lives, rarely ever talking about himself. He never met a stranger. Listening to music was a favorite pastime of Jeff’s, as was riding his Harley Davidson when time allowed. He left a positive impact on everyone he met. Jeff was also a loving caregiver of his parents into their later years. During his battle with cancer the past two years, it was important to Jeff that he remember all his caregivers’ names, ask questions about their lives, and greet them with enthusiasm. It was not uncommon for Jeff to drive his semi to his many treatments and appointments and then hit the road for a long day of work. He faced his diagnosis and prognosis head on, never complaining. A true champion.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Willa and her boyfriend, Aaron Marsh, of Mankato, MN; sister Deb (Bill) Smith, of Palatine, IL; brother Brad (Tami) Moe, of Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law Laurie Etrheim, Nancy Collins, Sandy (Ken) Stone; brothers-in-law Kevin (Carol Hansen) Collins, Kurt (Karen) Collins, Kim Collins; nieces Becky Smith (Tyler Whitaker), Holly (Tim) Czech, Tracey Watkins, Lydia Stone (David Gross), Norah Stone, Kelsey (Collin) Lambrecht; nephews Casey Moe, Justin Smith, Kyler Collins (Kelly Sabrowsky); great nieces and nephew, Annabelle, Emma, Johnathon, Noelle, Tea, Leighton, Annika; special aunts Marvel Anderson and Marilyn Moe; uncle Douglas Carpenter; many cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Allen and Virginia; in-laws Tom and Doris Collins; his grandparents Ed and Leota Moe, Olaf and Mabel Fagerlie; aunts and uncles: Derlyn and Pauline Moe, Everett Anderson, Edward Moe Jr., Patricia (Moe) Carpenter, Lloyd and Evelyn Breberg, Odell Fagerlie, Pete and Grace Fagerlie; and many beloved pets.

Jeff was truly loved and respected by many and will be forever missed. Known for his optimistic outlook, he often said throughout his life, “Don’t worry. It’ll all work out. It always does.”
