Jerome Harlowe Bergeland

Jerome Bergeland died Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his home near Dawson, MN at the age of 70.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 3:45 PM at Hamlin Cemetery, rural Madison with Pastor Bruce Shoeman officiating.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 2 - 3:30 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Jerome Harlowe Bergeland was born September 5, 1950 in Montevideo to Harlowe and Helen (Bueide) Bergeland.  He attended Dawson-Boyd High School and graduated in 1968.  Following high school, Jerome attended the University of Minnesota at Morris and later the U of MN St. Paul Campus.  He  served in the National Guard from 1973 – 1978.  On July 10, 1976, Jerome married Nancy Kuhlmann at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo and they made their home on the farm near Madison, MN. He spent much of his time farming, enjoyed flying, and was an active member of The Refuge Church in Montevideo.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Nancy; children: Margret (Brett) Goldstein of FL; Ed (Justine) Bergeland of Alexandria, VA; Eric (Sunnie) Bergeland of Watertown, SD, Rachael Bergeland of Dawson, Hugh Bergeland of Dawson, Paige Bergeland of Baltimore, MD, and Charlotte (Joe Colville) Bergeland of Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren; three siblings: Constance (Wallace) Hardie of Wahpeton, ND, Kirsten (Stephen) Fong of Eagan, MN; and Timothy (Heidi) Bergeland of Murdock, MN; a brother-in-law; Richard Dugan of Collinsville, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Dugan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rice Hospice or the donor’s choice.
