Jerome Breberg, of Dawson, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Banner Gardens Hospice in Mesa, AZ at the age of 79.
Funeral services was Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Willie Rosin officiating; scripture lessons were Psalm 23 and John 14:1-6; organist, Lu Strand accompanied the congregation in singing “Borning Cry”; soloist, Dean Pearson, accompanied on the piano by Joyce Pearson sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Just A Closer Walk”; the active casketbearers were Jason Breen, Josh Staab, Jordan Staab, DuWayne Barron, Zach Brovold, and Sam Brovold and the honorary casketbearers were the remaining 19 grandchildren. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 2, at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Jerome Allan Breberg was born October 15, 1933 in Dawson to Fremont and Ruth (Lindquist) Breberg. Jerome was baptized and confirmed at Providence Valley Church in rural Dawson. He attended school in District 61 thru eighth grade when he quit to help farm. He married Marion Hoyles in 1953 and they had one daughter, Cynthia Breen and three sons; Lyle, Douglas and Brian. He farmed until 1967 when he went into the implement business for 25 yrs. He married Irene Satre Enevoldsen in 1989. He worked for Consolidated Ag as a salesman for six yrs. before he retired. He helped his son on the farm in the spring and fall until his health failed. He loved being with family and friends, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and just plain visiting. He will be remembered for his special laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; four children: Cynthia (Dennis) Breen of Eau Claire, WI, Lyle (Lynne) Breberg of Dawson, MN, Douglas (Jennifer) Breberg of Dawson, MN, and Brian (Barbara) Breberg of Hadley, MN; 13 grandchildren: Jason (Galit) Breen, Emily Breen, Derek Breen, Timothy Breen, Danielle Breberg, Christine (Kade) Club, Ashley Breberg, Dallas Breberg, Erin Breberg, Katelyn Breberg, Breanna, Brittany, and Brailynn Breberg; five great-grandchildren: Kayli, Chloe, and Brody Breen, and Caden and Conor Breberg; five step children: Gayle (Carlton) Staab of Dawson, MN, Joann (Bradley) Smaagaard of Naples FL, Valerie (Dean) Ehrenberg of Lakefield, MN, Karen (Jerry) Jastram of Brookings, SD, and Cheryl (Arlyn) Goetsch of Lake Crystal, MN; 12 step grandchildren: Chantel (Sean) Deuth, Sara (Jason) Wollschlager, Amanda (Derek) Winter, Joshua Staab, Jordan Staab, DuWayne Barron, Stacie (Peter) Sarff, Melanie (Mike) Davis, Zachary Brovold, Samuel Brovold, Nicole Goetsch, and Adam Goetsch; 8 step great-grandchildren: Tyler, Colby and Dustin Deuth, MaClay and Blake Wollschlager, Macin Barron, Austin and Brooke Sarff; two sisters: Phyllis (Ray) Hostager of Stillwater, MN, and Marlys (Bill) Keefe of Bay Lake, MN; two brothers: Paul (Carnie) Breberg of Dawson, MN and Ron (Nancy) Breberg of Centerville, MN; a brother-in-law, Allen (Sharon) Satre of Clara City; a sister-in-law Sue (Mark) Sather of Montevideo, MN; plus nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; step-grandchildren: Tim Barron and MaKenzie Wollschlager; a mother-in-law, Thelma Sabe; and a brother-in-law, John Satre.
