Joan Olson, of Montevideo, died on Monday, December 13, 2004 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 61.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 17, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Joan Lorraine (Pederson) Olson was born on May 18, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Donald and Hazel (Couture) Pederson. She grew up in the Minneapolis area and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1961. On November 2, 1962 she was united in marriage to Robert Olson at the United Methodist Church in Excelsior, MN. They lived in Antioch, IL, Spartansburg, SC and Charlotte, NC before moving to Montevideo in 2002. She enjoyed ceramics, bowling, bingo and floral design.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; three daughters: Tina Kauppila of Montevideo, Erika Nelson and her husband Ted of Montevideo, and Amy King and her husband Jeff of Odessa, FL; five grandchildren: Sara and Erik Kauppila, Robert and David Nelson and Lily King; her mother, Hazel Pederson of Boyd, MN; and two sisters: Helen Vogt and her husband Bill of Aberdeen, SD and Merry Nelson and her husband Tom of Boyd, MN.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Pederson.
