Joel Wehrkamp, of Montevideo, died on Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester at the age of 37.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 4, 2003 at 1:30 PM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Joel Jay Wehrkamp was born on January 15, 1966 in Minneapolis, MN. At the age of 2 months, he was adopted by Jim and Alice Wehrkamp on March 24, 1966. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1984 and attended Vo Tech in Watertown, SD for 2 years studying welding. On August 10, 1989, he was united in marriage to Becky Worsech in Madison, MN. To this union were born 2 children, Andrew and Nicole. He was later united in marriage to Denise Adams on February 23, 2001 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He farmed with his father until his illness required him to give it up and during the winters worked as a welder in Clara City and Benson, MN. He was a lifelong member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; 2 children: Andrew and Nicole Wehrkamp; 2 step-children: Tyler and Zachary Adams; his parents, Jim and Alice Wehrkamp of Montevideo; a sister, Peggy Reynolds and her husband Mitch of Cottage Grove, MN; and 2 nephews, Mason and Aaron Reynolds.
