John Carl Andrews

John Andrews, 91, of Milan died April 6, 2000 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Rev. Wayne Anderson officiated and interment was at the Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.

John Carl Andrews was born on March 15, 1909 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Andrew and Christine (Bystrom) Andrews.  He was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  He attended Stone School 35 and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1928.  He played football while at Redwood Falls.  On July 10, 1938 he was united in marriage to Edna Allickson in Watertown, SD.  They farmed east of Milan for over 50 years and also worked for the local telephone company.  They moved into Milan in 1998. He was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church, served on the Milan School Board for 22 years and was a member of the Sportsmans Club.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, reading western novels, putting together puzzles and watching all sports.

He is survived by his wife - Edna; by children - Allen (Yvonne)Andrews of Watson, MN; Gary (Jo) Andrews of Milan, MN; Pat (Dean) Baker of New London, MN; Janet (Gary) Mitteness of Benson, MN; 11 Grandchildren - Michele (Wayne) Skogrand; Michael Andrews; Amy Jo (Darrin) Groah; Gary (Nichole) Andrews; Shawn (Chris) Schrupp; Shane Baker; Shannon (Corey) Faber; Shellece (Jeremy) Urban; Christina Mitteness; Kimberly Mitteness; and Ryan Mitteness; 8 great grandchildren - Andrew & Dustin Skogrand; Dominic & Tristan Groah; Wyly Andrews; Corrie & Shayla Schrupp; and Page Urban; by special family - Kip & Bonnie Olson; Scott Olson; Jodi, Dean & Jamie Dykema and K.C. and Alycia Olson; by a brother - Russell Andrews of Milan, MN; as well as by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by a grandson - Noel Mitteness; by brothers - Sibert, Irvin, Willie and Arthur Andrews and by sisters - Julia Dalen, Agnes Dalen, Lillian Lang and Amy Bohm.
