John F. Nicolai, 75, died at this home in Alexandria, MN of January 19, 1993.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, at 11:00 A.M. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Rev. Warren Broughton will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held an hour before services on Saturday.
John F. Nicolai was born in Montevideo on August 15, 1917, the son of Emil and Emily (Keller) Nicolai. Following high school, JOhn attended Auto Mechanics School in Fargo, ND and was then employed by the Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Seattle, WA. On August 22, 1942, John and Eleanor were married in Seattle and moved to Granite Falls, MN where he began his own automotive repair business. The family also lived in Iowa and John learned to be a machinist with the Omaha Production Company. He was later employed by Scott Atwater Outboard Motors in Minneapolis and worked for FMC as a machinist for 21 years. John retired at the age of 61 and lived in Park Rapids, MN for 1 1/2 years before moving to Alexandria in 1980. John was a true sportsman and loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor; one daughter Lynn of Alexandria; three brothers: Walter of Sisseton, SD, George of Owatonna, MN, and William of Rosedale, MN; two sisters: Margaret Larsen and Marion Harvey both of Maynard, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Morris.
