John Walstrom, of Montevideo, was called to his heavenly home Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 70.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 2:00PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
John Frederick Walstrom was born April 2, 1950 in Benson, MN to Clayton and LaVina (Ahrndt) Walstrom. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. John attended and graduated from Murdock High School. He enlisted in the United States National Guard. John was united in marriage to Linda Bergo on September 9, 1972 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Together they had three children.
John was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo for many years, and later in life became a member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He was a very active member in both congregations. He was the organist for many years at St. Paul’s. John was the owner of Ja’Moms and ran his own catering business for over 40 years. He owned Cedar Inn restaurant and Ja’Moms Inn and Catering. He enjoyed baking, gardening, spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, and singing. With John being such a talented singer, he was director of the Fiesta City Chorus, member of the church choir, and performed solos at many funerals and weddings.
He is survived by his children, Adrian Wahlstrom, of Montevideo, Andrea (Tyson) Ridenour, of Phoenix, AZ, and Aaron Walstrom, of Montevideo; grandchildren, Alex, Adrian, Anna, Tayler, Gage, Apollo, Cullin, and Wyatt; sisters, Marlene Walstrom, and Gayle Bradford; brother David Walstrom; and numerous family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Walstrom; and niece, Denise Paulsrud.
