John “Hans” Heideman, of Elk River, MN and formerly of Montevideo, died on Sunday, August 30, 1998 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
John Jay “Hans” Heideman was born on August 1, 1913 to John and Louise (Theide) Heideman on a farm in Lac Qui Parle Co., MN. He was baptized and confirmed and attended rural schools while living on the family farm in Lac Qui Parle Co. In 1932 he was united in marriage to Laura Erickson and they had six children. He worked for the city of Montevideo and operated his own refuse business before moving to Minneapolis in the early 1960's. He retired from Honeywell in 1978.
He is survived by a long-time companion - Viola Erickson of Elk River; sons - Robert Heideman and his wife Delores of Longview, WA; and James Heideman of Kelso, WA; daughters - Peg Harris and her husband Jim of Anoka, MN; Sharon Schuler and her husband Howard of Granite Falls, MN; Deanna Miller and her husband Bill of St. Paul, MN; and Pamela Jean Heideman of Kelso, WA; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Carl & Ervin Heideman and sisters - Violet Heideman, Lea Hansen, Edna Halvorson and Louise Reif.
