Joy Bourne, of Montevideo, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson. Vicar Linda Estling will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6 from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.
Joy Irene (Paulsrud) Bourne was born March 9, 1921 in Montevideo, MN the daughter of Edward and Josie (Christenson) Paulsrud. She was baptized April 6, 1931 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and confirmed November 21, 1935 at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church. Joy attended rural school in Dist. 64 and Dist. 39 before graduating from Benson High School in 1940. She was united in marriage with Henry Bourne October 24, 1945 at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church. They made their home in Montevideo. Joy worked for Art Goeson Insurance, BJ Oyen, Gambles, Ekholm Electric, and Nelson, Oyen, and Torvik Attorneys. They also built and ran a motel from 1960 -1975. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, and was a member of Mary circle and WELCA. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, baking, flowers, genealogy, and spending time with family.
She is survived by four children: Eileen (Tom) Grosland of Grand Rapids, MN, Dale Bourne of Fargo, ND, Mark (Marilyn) Bourne of Dawson, MN, and Dean (Beth) Bourne of Montevideo, MN; eleven grandchildren: Karen Grosland, Kristin Collignon, Teresa (Pat) Schad, David (Carissa) Grosland, Kelly (Steve) Tufto, Nathan (Terese) Bourne, Patrick (Marie) Bourne, Erin (Terry) Northrup, Nicholas Bourne, Ethan (Michelle) Sletten, Brett (Jana) Sletten; fifteen great-grandchildren: Georgia Collignon, Gracie Schad, Logan Schad, Max Grosland, Oliver Grosland, Ella Bourne, Annie Bourne, Kooper Bourne, Kash Bourne, Addison Tufto, Cale Tufto, Connor Tufto, Taylor Sletten, Madison Ohliger, and Sam Ohliger; a sister, Edna Paulsrud of Montevideo, MN; a brother, Harlan Paulsrud of Benson, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Henry in 1998; a sister, Cora; brothers: Curtis and Ernest; a sister-in-law, Becky; and a niece, Denise.
