Joyce Gurine (Olson) Johnson

Joyce Johnson, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, March 9, 1997 at the Fairview -  University Hospital at the age of 68.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 13, 1997 at 11:00 AM at the Maynard Lutheran Church  with Rev. Mary Boyd Hovland officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Joyce Gurine (Olson) Johnson was born on October 30, 1928 in Maynard, MN to Julian and Fannie (Perkins) Olson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Maynard Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  On August 29, 1952 she was united in marriage to Arnold Johnson in Montevideo.  They farmed in Havelock Township of Chippewa Co. for many years.  She moved into Montevideo in 1994.  She was a member of the Maynard Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter - Barbara Johnson of Florida; a son - DeWayne Johnson of Brandon, MN; grandchildren - Holly Hoskins and Heather Hoskins of Minneapolis, MN; sisters -Violet Berg of Clarkfield, MN; Lorraine Doose of Richfield, MN; and Yvonne Stottler of Excelsior, MN; brothers - Ronald Olson of Clara City, MN; and Donald Olson of Hastings, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold in 1993 and by a sister - Gloria Olson.
