Joyce Stewart, of Montevideo, died on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at th age of 82. Services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Joyce Shirley (Neiman) Stewart was born on May 7, 1926 in Lenox, South Dakota to William and Myrtle (Morfitt) Neiman. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Montevideo area and attended Montevideo Schools. On January 25, 1948 she was united in marriage to Clinton Stewart. They farmed in Grace Township for many years before retiring and moving to Montevideo in the mid 1970's. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 15 months. She had been an active member of First Baptist Church in Benson and had been a member of Grace Homemakers and Birthday Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, loved flowers, birdwatching, traveling and visiting with people. She is survived by her husband, Clinton; two sons Larry (and friend Julie Iverson) of Montevideo and Thomas of Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren: Ryan (and wife Amy) of Montevideo and Nathan (and wife Amy) of Milroy, MN; and two brothers: Glen Nieman of California and William Nieman of Parkers Prairie, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
