Joyce Weis died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29, 2008, at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church. Rev. Charlie Leonard will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Joyce Ardell (Carlton) Weis was born March 8, 1920 at Bemidji, MN the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Nekander) Carlton. She was baptized November 26, 1929 in Stillwater, MN and graduated from high school in 1938 in St. Frances, Ontario, Canada. She later attended Minneapolis Business College. Joyce was united in marriage with Simon Weis in March of 1946 in St. Paul, MN. They moved to Montevideo in 1948. Joyce was a loan officer at Washington Federal Savings Bank until she retired in 1986. Simon died in 1987. Joyce enjoyed golfing, swimming, skating, canoeing, antiquing, and gardening. She lived at Copper Glen before moving to Luther Haven in June of 2007. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Simon; and her sister and brother-in-law: Leona and Clifford Cole.
