Juleen Larson, of the Hagen/Big Bend area, died on Friday, June 28, 2002 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 76.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday July 1, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. David DeMars officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Juleen Sypher Larson was born on November 19, 1925 in Milan, MN to Elroy and Ida (Lea) Larson. He was baptized at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. He attended rural schools and Appleton High School. On June 20, 1947 he was united in marriage to Delores Swennes at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. After living in Montevideo for a year, they moved to the Hagen/Big Bend area, where they have lived for the past 53 years. He was an owner of Larson Gravel Co., Inc., and enjoyed his work with various government agencies and with the many people he dealt with. He enjoyed bowling, golf, softball and all sports, often sponsoring sports teams.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; three children: Teryl Ahlquist and her husband David of Spicer, MN, Allen Larson and his wife Rita of Hagen, MN and Jean Anderson and her husband Gary of Mandan, ND; 9 grandchildren: Dana Erickson, Kirk Larson, Shannon Slagter and her husband Doyle, Nathan Larson, Blair Larson, Reece Anderson, Damon Anderson, Emily Larson, and Nicholas Erickson; 5 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Devan, Allison, McKennan and Elijah; one brother, Virgil Larson and his wife Mavis of Milan, MN; two sisters: Elaine Bergo of Montevideo and June Knutson and her husband Bernie of Hutchinson, MN; one aunt, Edith Lea of Milan, MN; one uncle, Vernon Larson and his wife Gert of Watson, MN; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Russell in infancy.
