Julianna Belseth was born in Montevideo on October 5, 1927 to Anton and Mabel (Lund) Wick. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Watson. She met and married Everett Belseth at Immanuel Lutheran Church on February 20, 1949. They had two children together, Barbara and Paul. The family lived on a farm outside of Milan until 1967 when they moved into Milan. Julianna and Everett would travel to Arizona in the winter and would spend the month of February soaking up the sun and enjoying warm weather. In the summer she would spend time at Lake Minnewaska and loved to watch her grandchildren fish. She taught the grandchildren to clean the fish they caught at the lake since they kept catching and bringing them to her to clean. Julianna went to live at Luther Haven Nursing Home in December of 2016.
Julianna was a member of Kviteseid and taught Sunday School. She was also in the sewing club and was a founding member of the Appleton Art Club. She was an artist and painted still life pictures. Family remembers her as witty, outgoing and generous. She was a wonderful cook who could make anything taste good especially, carrot salad, meatballs and potatoes and beef roast and gravy.
Julianna is survived by her children: Barbara (Lyle) Swenson, Raymond and Paul Belseth Milan; grandchildren: Shane (Stephanie) Swenson and Stacey Swenson; great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Eva Swenson; step-grandchildren: Shawn (Jill) Swenson, Jesse (Sherry) Helleksen, Bradley (Patti) Swenson, and Monica Baron; 8 step great-grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; and nephew, Joel Belseth (Joel was raised by Julianna and Everett from age 6 months to 14 months), several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
