Julayne “Julie” Turnberg was born on March 15, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN to Donald and Evelyn (Sorvig) Radzak.  She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, MN.  Julie attended Cooper High School where she excelled in numerous activities, such as student council, cheerleading, National Honor Society and was the Homecoming Queen, before graduating in 1966.  Following high school, she attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and graduated with her RN degree in 1969.  On June 28, 1969 she was united in marriage to Gary Turnberg at Elim Lutheran Church.  Gary and Julie moved to Dawson in 1972 and lived in the teacher trailer park where they met numerous other new Dawson-Boyd school teachers, their families and made lifelong friends.  Soon thereafter Julie started working as a RN at Madison Lutheran Home.  Julie later went to work at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson as the Director of Nursing.  She cared deeply for her staff and beloved residents.  Julie won many awards for her leadership including 2010 Minnesota DON of the year.   Julie loved her family and friends. Julie was very active in her church LQP Lutheran.  She also enjoyed gardening, being active outdoors, golfing but not keeping score, traveling, cruising, visiting with friends at the Duck and winning the drawing.  She loved watching the Blackjacks...the team her husband coached for many years. Most of all she loved spending time with her dear husband, daughter and grandchildren.
